Dr. Sohan Dasgupta - Guiding Trade and National Security Organizations

Sohan Dasgupta, JD, PhD, is a nationally recognized leader, statesman, and jurist, with deep experience spanning law, public policy, trade, and national security. Trained as a legal professional, he has handled complex trial and appellate litigation, including matters before the United States Supreme Court, and has led arbitrations resolving high-stakes international trade and arbitration disputes. His expertise extends across regulatory enforcement, investigations, and executive leadership at the highest levels of government.

As political head of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Dr. Dasgupta led a comprehensive turnaround of the agency, elevating it to the position of a key instrument of U.S. foreign policy and national security strategy. His tenure was marked by strengthened governance, strategic realignment, and enhanced status.

In 2025, Dr. Dasgupta was appointed Assistant Secretary for Trade and Economic Security, where he provided strategic leadership over critical national security mechanisms, including the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS); Team Telecom; Forced Labor Enforcement Task Force (FLETF); Arctic security and the Icebreaker Collaboration Effort (ICE) Pact; Information and Communications Technology and Services (ICTS); and trade-related issues.

A statesman as well as a legal, national security and foreign policy expert, Dr. Dasgupta has delivered formal addresses before the U.S. Congress and numerous international legislative bodies, including the British, Hungarian, Romanian, and Latin American parliaments. Dr. Dasgupta is committed to the rule of law; history; art and architecture; and the comparative study of civilizations and religions.
